IN THE PRESS….
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) Announces Source of Supply Change
The Olympic View Water District purchases the majority of our potable water from SPU. SPU has two main sources of supply, the Tolt river to the north and the Cedar river to the south. During normal operation levels, SPU supply to Olympic View is from the northern Tolt river. SPU has notified the District that the Tolt Reservoir is 12ft below average levels (see charts here). To help counter this, starting the week of the 13th of February, SPU will be moving Cedar River water into the northern distribution system, which includes Olympic View. Depending on rain events this process could last anywhere from two weeks to three months.
Customers of Olympic View should not experience any changes in their water quality. However, If you do experience any changes, we would like to assure you that the water is still of the highest quality and safe for all uses.
If you do have concerns or questions, please reach out to our Water Quality Specialist, Scott Dunn at the main office number – 425-774-7769.
